Made to be kept

"The most sustainable watch is the one you never have to replace."

-- Kay and Thierry

We are a small brand, and we would rather be honest than loud. We do not plant forests and we do not claim to be climate neutral. What we do is make choices that mean less gets made, less gets shipped and less gets thrown away. Here is exactly what those choices are.

Repairs

We replace the part, not the watch

A Régler is built from parts that come apart. If a strap wears out, you get a strap. If something goes wrong with the case, you get a case. Not a whole new watch.

It sounds obvious, but most watches in this price range are sealed units: one fault and the entire thing is waste. Ours are not, and that single decision saves more material than anything else on this page.

One watch, many looks

A new strap instead of a new watch

Swap the strap and you have a different watch on your wrist. Steel for the office, mesh for the evening, leather for the weekend.

We would rather sell you three straps than three watches. It costs you less, it uses a fraction of the material, and you end up wearing the same watch for years instead of replacing it when you want something new.

Delivery

Through the letterbox, in one go

Every Régler is packed to fit through a letterbox. That means no second delivery attempt, no trip to a pickup point, and no van idling outside while nobody is home.

Within the Netherlands these parcels are carried by DHL on their electric fleet. One stop, no emissions at the door.

Materials

Nothing in there that should not be

All our watches are RoHS tested. That is the European standard that limits lead, mercury, cadmium and other substances you do not want against your skin or in a landfill.

They are also nickel free, which matters if you are one of the many people who cannot wear ordinary jewellery for more than an afternoon.

The details

No paper manual

There is no booklet in the box, because almost nobody reads it and everybody throws it away. Instead there is a QR code on the watch box that takes you to the instructions online, where we can keep them up to date.

One less printed page per watch sounds small. Multiplied by every watch we have ever sent, it is not.

Recycled packaging

Our boxes are made from recycled paper. The plastic we use is recycled as well.

We keep the packaging deliberately plain. A watch box that looks like a gift is lovely once and rubbish afterwards; we would rather put the money into the watch.

What RoHS actually means

RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. It is a European directive that sets limits on ten materials, including lead, mercury and cadmium.

It is a compliance standard rather than an environmental award, and we would rather tell you that plainly than dress it up. What it does mean is that you know what is in the watch on your wrist.

Something broken or worn?

Get in touch before you replace anything. In most cases we can send the single part you need, under our two-year guarantee or outside it.

A watch that gets repaired is worth more to us than a watch that gets replaced.

What we are not claiming

Our watches are made abroad and shipped to the Netherlands, and that has a footprint. We do not offset it and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

What we can say is this: a watch you keep for five years and repair twice is better than three watches you throw away. That is the thing we design for, and it is the only claim on this page we are entirely sure of.

Start with one watch

Then change the strap whenever you feel like something new.
